EmerGeo Integrates Hazardous Material Models into OpenGIS Emergency Mapping Software

EmerGeo Solutions to Market the World’s Leading Crisis Management Software: WebEOC®.

VANCOUVER, B.C., January 24, 2005 – EmerGeo Solutions, a developer of OpenGIS® based mapping solutions for emergency managers and major event security planners, and ESi Acquisitions, a world leader in integrated solutions for the public safety sector, have entered into a value-added reseller (VAR) agreement enabling EmerGeo to market the world’s first web-based crisis information management software called WebEOC®. EmerGeo will integrate its emergency mapping application and market the solution to public safety and security markets within Canada and worldwide.

As the world’s first web-based emergency management communications system, WebEOC® provides cost-effective, real-time information sharing. By linking local, provincial/state, federal, and even worldwide government and industry sources together, WebEOC® helps to facilitate decision-making during any kind of emergency situation.

“A picture is worth much more than a thousand words” to emergency planners and responders. The EmerGeo mapping software provides a clearer picture of what is happening than textual reports and databases. It also reveals populations and critical infrastructure that are affected or that might become impacted, the proximity of response teams and resources, and real-time tracking of response activities underway. EmerGeo will add mobile mapping, automated situation map publishing, hazard modeling and OpenGIS® data integration capabilities to the WebEOC® suite of products.

EmerGeo and ESi clients include high profile government and industry organizations around the world. EmerGeo mapping has been deployed province-wide by the B.C. Office of the Fire Commissioner and used for fire mapping and evacuation planning during the “Fire Storm” events in B.C.

WebEOC® has been enjoying tremendous market acceptance and has been selected as the standard emergency information management system within the United States Department of Energy (DOE). NASA has also selected WebEOC® as the standard with multiple installations at Kennedy Space Center, Jet Propulsion Labs, Ames Research, and Dryden. WebEOC® is employed by several major corporations such as Raytheon, Duke Energy, and Cingular Wireless, and is the standard for several major airlines, Delta, American and Cathay Pacific to cite a few. In addition, several other Federal agencies such as FEMA, TSA, DOD and EPA use WebEOC®. Fifteen states and several major cities including Atlanta, Seattle, Las Vegas and Boston have adopted WebEOC®. The City of Los Angles recently selected WebEOC® (click here to see a partial customer list).

“ESi is looking forward to a successful partnership with EmerGeo as it embarks on an international strategy to replicate its US industry leadership elsewhere in the world”, states one of ESi’s Directors, Paul Butler.
