EmerGeo Software Supports TETRA-based Vehicle and People Tracking System
Vancouver, B.C., - January 6, 2011 – EmerGeo Solutions Worldwide Inc. (TSX-V: EMG), a leading provider of emergency management software and consulting services, is pleased to announce it has successfully deployed EmerGeo Fusionpoint with the Indagon TETRA Positioning Gateway system. This system was a collaborative effort with Atlas Telecom, and will be initially deployed in the United Arab Emirates.
“With this solution, EmerGeo and Atlas have the option to offer public safety and emergency management clients an integrated resource tracking capability that leverages their existing investment in TETRA networks. This addition to the EmerGeo portfolio represents another milestone in the advancement of our Fusionpoint crisis management interoperability application.” said Michael Morrow, President at EmerGeo Solutions Worldwide Inc.
Location based services (LBS), often referred to as Automated Vehicle Location “AVL” or Automated Person Location “APL”, is the most commonly used service by TETRA end user organizations. Leveraging a common TETRA network that links multiple public safety and crisis management agencies together is a cost-effective deployment model.
There are several ways to implement LBS. The most commonly used positioning method is satellite GPS-based location calculation. Using this method and internal or external GPS receiver is connected to the TETRA terminal that calculates the unit location and sends it to the AVL application via TETRA SDS message.
The Indagon TETRA Positioning Gateway (TGW) is designed as a centralized, robust and scalable operator based positioning platform which is able to locate a high number of TETRA terminals based on GPS location and distribute the location data to EmerGeo’s crisis management fusion and mapping applications over the open MLP interface.
EmerGeo – the Crisis Management application: EmerGeo running on laptops or server PC’s interacts with an Indagon TETRA Positioning Gateway server for the purpose of obtaining location information for one or more TETRA terminals. The EmerGeo Fusionpoint application can be used together with a dispatching system to provide a Common Operating Picture.
Indagon TETRA – The Positioning Gateway (TGW): is a gateway into the agency’s communications network to securely and easily obtain location data of subscribers on the network. This TGW receives requests from the EmerGeo server, passes them into the communications network and reports the results back to EmerGeo Fusionpoint for display to the operator.
EmerGeo develops emergency management software solutions and provides consulting services and support to government and industry around the world. EmerGeo’s Fusionpoint™ and emergency mapping applications are used to log, track and communicate critical information required by emergency and security personnel. By leveraging open web standards, EmerGeo’s software brings together data from dispatch, crisis management, mapping, camera and other third-party systems, providing a common operating picture. EmerGeo’s technology and people have been at the forefront of some of the world’s largest disasters and are proven effective in helping government and industry to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to and recover from potential or actual incidents, natural disasters, acts of terrorism, or pre-planned events.
