EmerGeo Solutions currently offers three geospatial hazard models/model interfaces as add-on modules to the EmerGeo Smart Client software. Additional models and interfaces are under development. Hazard modeling software supports planners' and responders' in estimating impacts and vulnerabilities to a range of hazards. EmerGeo's hazard models are designed to be very easy and quick for first responder and non-technical emergency planners' use.

The family of models currently includes: two methods for estimating the extent of hazardous materials releases (plume models) and earthquake MMI and PGA ("shake") models. Flood inundation models are currently under development. EmerGeo Hazard Models can be purchased as a complete integrated suite of damage estimation models or purchased and installed separately in one or more EmerGeo Smart Clients.

INTEGRATING THIRD-PARTY HAZARD MODELS

More sophisticated models that may require advanced technical skills, data and computer processing power, such as 3-dimensional models, can be run in existing third-party GIS software and the results accessed by EmerGeo mapping for emergency planners' and responders' use. Please contact EmerGeo Solutions to discuss methods of integrating additional hazard models.

EmerGeo - Hazmat Interfaces - A pair of interfaces for plotting geo-referenced plumes and evacuation areas: one for the ALOHATM plume model and one for the North American Emergency Response Guidebook 2004 (ERG2004TM) isolation and protection distances database. These two models work with your own GIS data or third-party map data.

The 2004 Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG2004) was developed jointly by Transport Canada (TC), the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), the Secretariat of Transport and Communications of Mexico (SCT) and with the collaboration of CIQUIME (Centro de Información Química para Emergencias) of Argentina.

EmerGeo Flood model (under development) - A version of the NHEMATIS flood hazard model. This model generates estimated flood inundation areas from gridded digital elevation model (DEM) data.

EmerGeo Earthquake model - A version of the NHEMATIS earthquake hazard model developed by Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada (formerly OCIPEP) in Canada. The model produces outputs very quickly and requires minimal training. The model produces maps of Modified Mercalli Index (MMI) and Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA). This model requires one or more soil maps in order to operate.
