Dear Shareholders:

I want to welcome you to a new and exciting era for EmerGeo Solutions and the launch of our new website.

But first I would like to provide you with a brief history of EmerGeo and our industry.

Background on EmerGeo Solutions Inc.

Historically, government and industry have relied on manual (paper-based) tracking systems and voice communications to coordinate and support emergency response activities and resources. Most government agencies and industry organizations in developed nations have some form of emergency operation centre (EOC) that is activated to support police, fire, medical and other responders in the field and used to coordinate response activities and resources across multiple organizations and jurisdictions during any type of major event or disaster.

The events of September 11th and Hurricane Katrina highlighted the ongoing problems of interoperability between emergency responders in the field, the EOC that supports them, and other local, state (provincial) and federal coordination centres whose resources were called upon to help. During these disasters, information sharing between local jurisdictions and state agencies typically involved faxes, emails and telephone conference calls. By the time someone prepared and sent a fax, the information was often outdated. Faxes and emails were sent to agencies directly involved in the emergency response effort, but other support agencies were often not in the ‘information loop’ making them unable to assist responders.

The key to effectively managing any crisis, especially one that involves terrorism, is to have accurate real-time information that allows for better decision making. Decision making capabilities based on accurate, real-time information results in a more effective management of critical resources, which in turn saves lives, reduces property damage, and helps protect the critical infrastructures we rely on daily.

EmerGeo™ emergency mapping software has been designed by Emergency Management professionals who have first-hand knowledge of the common problems experienced by all planners and responders before, during and after major emergencies, pre-planned events (e.g. security planning for the Asia-Pacific Economic Conference) and disasters. Communication, collaboration and coordination (or “Interoperability”) is the key to effectively managing an emergency to save lives and protect property. The importance of interoperability is evidenced by the US Government Department of Homeland Security who has made interoperability their top priority and is providing significant funding to emergency management agencies who acquire and implement technologies that enable multi-agency interoperability.
